About the role:

We’re seeking an enthusiastic and caring SEN Teaching Assistant (TA) with a specialism in challenging behaviours to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Harrow, London. This is a full-time, long-term role supporting Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 students with a variety of needs, focusing particularly on those requiring help to manage challenging behaviours. As an SEN TA specialising in challenging behaviours, you’ll play a key role in providing 1:1 and group support to students, helping them access the curriculum and manage their emotions.

Application Requirements:

• Previous experience as a TA, especially in SEN or behaviour support.
• A positive attitude and a strong passion for supporting children with complex needs.
• Relevant qualifications, such as a Level 2/3 TA qualification (desirable but not essential).
• Ability to use effective behavioural management techniques in a kind and patient manner.
• A proactive and flexible approach to meeting the diverse needs of students.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supporting children with challenging behaviours both inside and outside the classroom, helping them engage in learning.
• Collaborating closely with teachers and other support staff to create individualised education plans (IEPs) that cater to each child’s needs.
• Implementing behaviour management strategies tailored to students’ needs, fostering an environment of respect, patience, and encouragement.
• Assisting with social, emotional, and academic development, ensuring children feel supported and empowered.
• Building positive relationships with students, offering guidance and emotional support, and celebrating their successes.
