About the role:

We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant with Specialism in SEMH Needs to join our supportive team starting ASAP. This is a full-time position designed to replace a valued team member who has moved on. The role involves working closely with children who have Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs, providing personalized support to help them thrive in a nurturing environment. The successful candidate will engage with small groups and may collaborate with other TAs and teachers to ensure the best outcomes for students with Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs).

The recruitment process will consist of two stages, including a face-to-face interview and an opportunity to participate in a trial day, with early applications encouraged. Application Requirements:

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years working in a teaching assistant role, preferably with experience supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

• Qualifications: Relevant qualifications in Special Educational Needs (SEN) or a Teaching Assistant certification are preferred.

• Classroom Experience: Proven experience in a classroom setting, particularly within Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2.

• Professional Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to foster positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.

• SEN Knowledge: Familiarity with the needs of SEN students, including those with Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs).

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide tailored support to students with SEMH needs, implementing strategies outlined in their Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) to promote emotional well-being and academic progress.

• Work closely with classroom teachers to develop and adapt lesson plans, ensuring that learning activities are inclusive and engaging for all students.

• Assist in managing classroom behavior by employing positive reinforcement techniques and developing rapport with students to create a safe and supportive learning environment.

• Regularly assess and monitor the progress of assigned students, documenting their development and communicating effectively with teachers and parents to facilitate continuity of care and education.

• Contribute to a nurturing atmosphere by encouraging social interactions and promoting positive relationships among students, fostering a sense of belonging and community within the classroom.
