Overview:
The Graphic Designer reports to the Graphic Design Supervisor and is responsible for working closely with all the departments of UHC to focus on creating a visible image that can be used in media and print while utilizing up-to-date knowledge in the graphics arena. This position leverages the visual impact of the overall corporate identity and is responsible for collaborating and creating a variety of products including websites, books, magazines, product packaging, billboards, exhibitions, photography, videos and many other media projects.
The Graphic Designer participates in event planning and coordination for the many UHC internal and external events. While attending the event the Graphic Designer is responsible for the photography to capture and memorialize the affair(s).
Responsibilities:
Summary of Responsibilities:
Meet with the Graphic Design Supervisor to determine the scope of a project(s) as well as advise Graphic Design Supervisor on strategies to reach a particular audience.
Determine the message the design should portray and create images that identify a product or convey a message.
Collaborates with team on the many projects focusing on the most effective areas of branding and marketing UHC, its employees and the many internal events and external community outreach opportunities.
PERFORMANCE AREA 1: Graphic Design and Materials Development
Supports the activities of the company by designing and distributing UHC brochures, flyers, and other materials.
Guarantees effective communication by developing appropriately translated and culturally appropriate marketing and outreach materials.
Create designs either by hand or using computer software packages
Select colors, images, text style, and layout
Present the design to Graphic Design Supervisor and team
Incorporate changes recommended by the team into the final design
Review designs for errors before printing or publishing them
Meet with the team to define the objectives and requirements of the job and estimate the time required to complete the work
Develop design briefs that suit the company’s purpose
Think creatively to produce new ideas and concepts and develop interactive designs
Use innovation to redefine a design brief within the constraints of cost and time
Present finalized ideas and concepts to team
Work with a range of media, including computer-aided design (CAD) and keep up to date with emerging technology
Develop the layout and production design of magazines, newspapers, journals, corporate reports, and other publications as necessary
Use computer software to create electronic versions of designs
Employ color, type, illustration, photography, animation, and various print and layout techniques when designing project
Develop material and content for web pages, as well as designs logos for departments within the company
Qualifications:
EDUCATION
BA or BS in Business or Communication, and or related field from an accredited college or university preferred.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:
Possess a valid driver's license
PRIOR EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 3 years of experience in graphic design required (3D design, communication design, film/television, fine art, graphic design, illustration, photography and visual art)
Professional photography skills (studio photo, lighting, etc.) required
SKILLS
Passion and enthusiasm for design, with a creative flair;
A flexible approach when working in a team environment
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
Good presentation skills and the confidence to explain and sell ideas to colleagues
Effective time management skills and the ability to cope with several projects at a time
Accuracy and attention to detail
Effective networking skills to build contacts
Excellent customer relations experience
Reliable and dependable
Strong general and technical writing skills.
Demonstrate good problem-solving skills; sound judgment.

The pay range for this non-exempt position starts at $25.41 an hour. Our salary ranges are dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience.
