Registered Manager (Children’s Residential)
Twyford, Reading | Full Time | Permanent | £60,000 to £65,000 per annum
About the Role
A new children’s residential home is due to open in Twyford, Reading, supporting young people aged 8 to 18 with learning disabilities. The home will have 4 bedrooms and a self-contained 1 bedroom apartment.
We are looking for an experienced Registered Manager to come on board ahead of opening to oversee and support the process of getting the home up and running.
The RM will report directly to the Responsible Individual and will have full support from the RI throughout the registration process and beyond.
The home is built on a therapeutic, relational model of care grounded in attachment theory and trauma-informed practice.
Key Responsibilities
* Complete the personal section of the Ofsted registration application
* Recruit and induct the staff team ahead of opening
* Develop and implement policies, procedures, and care frameworks
* Ensure full compliance with the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards
* Ensure each young person aged 8 to 18 has an individual, strengths-based support plan
* Oversee safeguarding, DBS checks, and mandatory training compliance for all staff
* Be available on-call as the responsible point of contact for the home
* Build relationships with commissioners, families, and external professionals
Requirements
* Experience in children’s residential care at management or senior deputy level
* Must have worked within a registered children’s home (registration experience not essential)
* Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (essential or actively working towards, as required by Ofsted)
* Sound knowledge of the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards
* Understanding of trauma-informed and attachment-based practice
* Ability to lead and develop a staff team from scratch
* Willingness to be on-call as required
* Enhanced DBS clearance or willingness to undergo a check
