HR Consultant – Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI)

Location: Hybrid – Mostly Remote (with occasional travel to City Hall, BS1 5TR)
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 37 hours per week
Salary: £42,839 per annum

Our public sector client is seeking an experienced HR Consultant – Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) to join their Workforce and Change team. This newly created role offers the opportunity to influence inclusive people practices, shape HR policy and support a positive workplace culture across a large and complex organisation.

Working closely with managers, HR colleagues and employee networks, you'll provide expert HR advice, support policy development and help embed equality, diversity and inclusion into all aspects of the employee lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

* Develop and review HR policies to ensure they are fair, inclusive and compliant with employment legislation.

* Provide expert advice on complex HR casework, including conduct, performance and attendance matters.

* Support organisational projects that promote positive workforce culture and inclusive working practices.

* Provide workforce insights and contribute to Equality Impact Assessments (EqIAs).

* Build strong relationships with managers, HR teams and colleague networks to promote fair and consistent people practices.

* Analyse workforce data and feedback to identify EDI trends, risks and opportunities for improvement.

* Design and deliver guidance and learning resources that strengthen people management capability.

About You

* Significant HR experience within a local authority or similar complex public sector environment.

* Strong knowledge of equality, diversity and inclusion principles, employment law and HR best practice.

* Experience developing HR policies and providing advice on complex employee relations matters.

* Confident analysing workforce data and translating findings into practical recommendations.

* Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.

* Able to build effective relationships while handling sensitive matters with professionalism and discretion.

* Chartered CIPD membership or equivalent HR experience is desirable.
