SEN Teaching Assistant
Prospero Teaching is recruiting a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils in the Winchester area. This role involves working with children who have a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, communication needs, and social, emotional or behavioural challenges.
You will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide consistent, tailored support, helping pupils access learning, build confidence, and engage positively with school life. Support may be delivered on a 1:1 basis or within small groups depending on the needs of the individual pupils.

The Role:
Provide 1:1 support and small‑group assistance for pupils with SEN
Support pupils during lessons, activities, and transitions
Assist with emotional regulation and behaviour support
Help adapt learning tasks to meet individual needs
Encourage confidence, independence, and engagement
Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and support staff
Maintain a calm, structured, and inclusive learning environment
Follow safeguarding and school policies consistently
Ideal Candidate:
Experience working with children or young people
Patient, supportive, and empathetic approach
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Able to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
Adaptable and responsive to different needs and situations
Reliable and able to work as part of a team
Backgrounds in SEN, care, youth work, or support roles welcomed
Contract Details:
Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Winchester
Start Date: ASAP
Working Pattern: Full‑time, term‑time
Pay Rate: £14.25 - £15.66 per hour
Key Stages: Primary / Secondary
Experience, Training & Safeguarding:
SEN or child‑support experience desirable
Safeguarding training can be provided
Understanding of SEN strategies beneficial but not essential
