1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant (Year 6) – September Start
Location: Primary School in Gosport
Contract: Term Time Only
Start Date: September 2026

We are seeking a dedicated, resilient, and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 6 pupil with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs from September.

This is a rewarding opportunity for a strong and compassionate individual who can build positive relationships, provide consistent support, and help a child achieve both academically and emotionally during their final year of primary school.

The Role

Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 6 pupil with SEMH needs.
Support the child's emotional regulation, engagement, and learning throughout the school day.
Implement strategies and interventions in line with the pupil's individual needs and support plans.
Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, parents, and external professionals.
Promote positive behaviour, independence, and self-esteem.
Help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

Has experience working with children with SEMH, behavioural, or additional learning needs.
Is calm, patient, resilient, and able to remain positive in challenging situations.
Can build strong, trusting relationships with children.
Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Is committed to supporting children's wellbeing and educational progress.
Holds a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification or has equivalent experience (desirable).
