Role: SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Lymington
Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
Contract: Full-Time, Temp-to-Perm

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff and therapists to provide tailored support to pupils aged 7-16 years. You will help create a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment that enables every student to reach their full potential, both academically and personally.

This rewarding role requires patience, resilience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to supporting young people with a wide range of additional needs.

Key Responsibilities

Support students in the classroom and during wider school activities.
Assist with implementing individual learning and behaviour support plans.
Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
Encourage student engagement, independence, and confidence.
Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies.
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and parents/carers.
Help maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Requirements

A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential.
Previous experience working with children, young people, or adults with SEN is desirable.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to remain calm, patient, and resilient in challenging situations.
A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners.
Willingness to undertake relevant training and development.
