SEN Teaching Assistant - Andover
Prospero Teaching is recruiting a dedicated and supportive SEN Teaching Assistant to work with pupils in the Andover area. This role involves supporting children with a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, communication needs, and social, emotional or behavioural challenges.
Working closely with teachers and support staff, you will provide consistent, structured support to help pupils engage with learning, build confidence, and develop independence. Support may be delivered on a 1:1 basis or within small groups depending on student needs.
This is a rewarding role for someone passionate about supporting pupils who benefit from additional guidance in a school setting.
The Role:
Provide 1:1 support and small‑group assistance for pupils with SEN
Support pupils during lessons, activities, and daily routines
Assist with behaviour management and emotional regulation
Help adapt learning tasks to meet individual needs
Encourage confidence, engagement, and independence
Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and support staff
Maintain a calm, inclusive, and structured environment
Follow safeguarding and school policies consistently
Ideal Candidate:
Experience working with children or young people
Calm, patient, and supportive approach
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Able to build positive relationships with pupils
Flexible and able to adapt to varying needs
Reliable and able to work effectively as part of a team
Backgrounds in SEN, care, youth work, or support roles welcomed
Contract Details:
Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Andover
Start Date: ASAP
Working Pattern: Full‑time, term‑time
Pay Rate: £14.25 - £15.66 per hour
Key Stages: Primary / Secondary
Experience, Training & Safeguarding:
SEN or relevant child‑support experience desirable
Safeguarding training can be provided
Understanding of SEN strategies beneficial but not essential
