Deputy Manager

The Hamnet Way is seeking an experienced and motivated Deputy Manager to support the leadership and operational management of a children's residential home.
This role is ideal for an established residential childcare professional who combines strong safeguarding knowledge, operational capability and people leadership with a genuine commitment to achieving outstanding outcomes for children.
About the Role
Reporting to the Registered Manager, you will support the safe, effective and compliant operation of the home while maintaining a visible leadership presence within the service.
You will lead staff teams, drive quality standards, support continuous improvement and ensure the home remains inspection-ready at all times.
Key areas of responsibility include:
Leadership & Operations
Leading shifts and ensuring effective service delivery.
Managing staffing arrangements and operational priorities.
Deputising for the Registered Manager.
Participating in the on-call rota.
Supporting service development and improvement plans.Quality & Compliance
Maintaining Ofsted readiness.
Completing audits and quality assurance activities.
Monitoring records and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Supporting implementation of policies and procedures.People Leadership
Mentoring, coaching and developing staff.
Supporting supervision and performance management processes.
Promoting accountability and professional practice.
Embedding a positive and reflective team culture.Safeguarding & Care
Maintaining a strong safeguarding culture.
Supporting therapeutic and trauma-informed practice.
Ensuring children receive high-quality, individualised care.
Promoting positive outcomes and stability.Requirements
Essential:
Experience in children's residential care.
Experience leading teams and shifts.
Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
Strong safeguarding knowledge.
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Full UK driving licence.Desirable:
Existing Deputy Manager experience.
Working towards or holding a Level 5 qualification.
Experience supporting inspections and quality improvement initiatives.What You'll Bring
