HR Advisor – Employee Relations
Location: Lichfield
Department: Human Resources
Reporting to: Senior HR Advisor
About the Role
We’re looking for a proactive and knowledgeable HR Advisor (Employee Relations) to join our HR team. In this role, you’ll be the go-to expert for employee relations matters, supporting managers with practical, compliant, and commercially focused HR advice.
You’ll manage a wide range of ER cases end-to-end, ensuring a fair and consistent approach that aligns with company policies, employment legislation, and best practice.
Key Responsibilities
Act as the first point of contact for managers on all employee relations matters, including:
Disciplinary and grievance cases
Absence management (short and long-term)
Performance management
Flexible working and probation reviews
Manage ER cases from start to finish, ensuring timely and effective resolution
Provide guidance to ensure compliance with employment law and internal policies
Produce and review documentation including investigation packs, invite letters, and outcome letters
Maintain accurate case records and HR systems
Support absence management processes, including Occupational Health referrals where appropriate
Escalate high-risk or complex cases to senior HR colleagues as needed
Liaise with external bodies (e.g. Police, ACAS) where required
Support employment tribunal preparation and early conciliation processes
Identify and manage safeguarding concerns, including DBS referrals
Keep up to date with employment law and HR best practice
Provide coaching and support to junior HR team members
About You
We’re looking for someone who is:
Experienced in managing a wide range of employee relations cases
Confident advising managers at all levels
Up to date with UK employment law and HR best practice
Highly organised with strong attention to detail
A strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
Able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Confidential and professional in handling sensitive information

Proven experience in an HR Advisor or ER-focused role
Strong case management skills and ability to work independently
A proactive and solution-focused mindset
Experience working with HR systems and case management tools
CIPD qualification (desirable, but not essential)
