Overview:

The Legal Assistant will manage office operations and provide case management support within the Office of General Counsel/Office of Institutional Compliance. This role manages and completes tasks assigned by members of the General Counsel’s Office including but not limited to, organizing daily tasks, scheduling, providing administrative support for legal/compliance matters, legal billing, vendor management and dealing with record keeping responsibilities and associated tasks. The ideal candidate will be proactive, able to multi-task, and possess strong organizational and customer service skills. The role includes managing legal documents, coordinating schedules, ensuring compliance with internal policies, and assisting with compliance investigations.Key responsibilities include front office administration, file and case management, and supporting compliance investigators. Advanced document management, attention to detail, and legal research proficiency are essential.

Responsibilities:

Manage daily office operations for the Office of General Counsel/Office of Institutional Compliance: Scheduling, coordinating meetings, maintaining calendars, and performing clerical tasks.

Organize and maintain case files, legal documents, and records, ensuring confidentiality and accessibility.

Prepare legal correspondence, forms, and documentation, including filing court papers and supporting litigation processes.

Provide administrative support to the legal/compliance team: Document preparation, travel arrangements, and office supply management.

Conduct legal research, manage databases such as Lexis-Nexis, and assist in preparing materials for legal cases and e-discovery.

Manage and complete all “TouroOne Matters”, including processing purchase orders, tracking invoices, and managing the department’s budget.

Maintain and organize legal forms and compliance documentation required by local, state, and federal agencies.

Assist with investigations related to regulatory compliance, including Title IV, Title IX, and the Clery Act, and collaborate with internal departments for evidence gathering and reporting.

Support the coordination of compliance training sessions and workshops, and assist in drafting policies and procedures.

Ensure smooth communication within the department and across teams to maintain workflow.

Perform any other duties as assigned by the legal department staff.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience

Bachelor’s degree and/or Paralegal certificate required.

At least 1-3 years of relevant work experience required, prior legal office experience preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Strong organizational skills; reliable; manages time well.

Attention to detail and ability to multi-task and work under deadlines.

Able to adapt to evolving responsibilities.

Demonstrated experience in dealing with high stress situations.

Open to communication, and willing to accept feedback.

Exceptional communication and language skills, both oral and written; can write in a clear and concise fashion.

A high degree of interpersonal competency: the ability to work well with a diverse group of students, volunteers, staff, consultants, board members and faculty; communicates effectively; communicates directly to other project team members.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Power Point, & Outlook.

Clearly demonstrates planning and project management execution skills within boundaries of technology.

Travel

Possible travel to extension sites as needed.

Maximum Salary:

USD $70,000.00/Yr.

Minimum Salary:

USD $56,000.00/Yr.
