Overview:

Summary:  The HR Business Partner (HRBP) position is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management in designated business units. The position formulates partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflects the business objectives of the organization. The HRBP maintains an effective level of business literacy about the business unit's financial position, its midrange plans, its culture and its competition. 

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

This position may have one (1) direct report and will serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department. 

Essential Functions: 

Conducts weekly meetings with respective business units and provides HR policy guidance and interpretation. 

Consults with line management, providing HR guidance when appropriate. 

Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs, and policies. 

Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough, and objective investigations. 

Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the legal department as needed/required. 

Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions). 

Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention. 

Develops contract terms for new hires, promotions. and transfers. 

Works hand in hand with Talent Acquisition and business units on needs assessments and recruiting needs.  

Assists international employees with expatriate assignments and related HR matters. 

Provides guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning and succession planning. 

Identifies training needs for business units and individual executive coaching needs. 

Participates in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success. Follows up to ensure training objectives are met. 

Performs other related duties as assigned. 

Required Skills & Abilities: 

Must be proficient with standard office equipment and software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other HR specific software applications). 

Strong organizational skills. 

Excellent program management skills. 

Detail oriented and accurate. 

Ability to multi-task, be flexible, and prioritize work assignments with little supervision. 

Working knowledge of federal and state employment law.  

Problem solving skills. 

Must read, write, communicate, and speak clearly. 

Ability to deliver polished and professional presentations. Professional appearance, attitude, demeanor. 

Customer service oriented. 

Creative approach to recruiting and retention.

Experience prolonged sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping and stretching. 

Use hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment is required. 

Onsite attendance is required.  

Minimum Qualifications: 

    Bachelor’s degree preferably in Human Resources, Business Management, or related field and five (5) to (6) six years of related experience; or 

    Associates Degree preferably in Human Resources, Business Management, or related field seven (7) to eight (8) years of related experience. 

High School Diploma or GED and at least nine (9) to ten (10) years of related experience.  

Preferred Qualifications: 

PHR, SPHR, SHRM CP or other HR Certification. 

Prior experience in pharmaceutical, biotech or highly regulated and fast paced industry a plus. 

Prior HRIS implementation.
