The Quality Inspector 3 is responsible for the inspection and documentation of various products produced after manufacturing to make sure they meet drawing requirements.
The Quality Inspector is responsible for reviewing products and materials during and after manufacturing to make sure they meet company requirements. Duties include measuring objects compared to their intended physical specifications, running quality tests and identifying defects. Requires understanding of prints, GD&T principles, and common measurement methods, including non-contact inspection to discern part/product quality.
Responsibilities:
Measure both purchased and manufactured parts on a daily basis using supplied gages such as calipers, micrometers, optical comparators, CMM, etc.
Support production floor by performing in-process inspections
Close visual inspection of parts for indications, defects and anomalies
Recording measurements in a neat and orderly manner
Identifying nonconforming features on parts
Secure/quarantine parts that do not meet required quality standards
Sort conforming and nonconforming parts to support on-time delivery to customers
Program inspection devices such as the Zeiss CMM, Keyence IM, and Micro-Vu.
Establish/publish visual standards that aid operators and inspectors in detecting defects and anomalies
Provide alternate measuring methods to improve the accuracy and efficiency of inspecting parts
Use inspection data and manufacturing experience to identify issues and lead a team to determine the root cause of failures and appropriate corrective actions
Train Inspectors on proper techniques to perform accurate measurements
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent.
Mechanical inspection experience required
Understanding of fundamental mathematics including basic geometry
Specialist skills in one or more measurement systems, statistical analysis or problem solving.
More than 3 years as an inspector or quality assurance employee in a manufacturing environment.
Ability to understand engineering drawings including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Strong safety, quality, and teamwork orientation with track record of dependability.
Motivated self-starter
Understanding of machine shop equipment and operation
