As a Learning Support Assistant at a special educational needs (SEN) school, you will have the unique opportunity to provide individualised support to students, helping them overcome barriers to learning and thrive in a nurturing environment. Responsibilities of the Learning Support Assistant:

Provide personalised 1:1 support to non-verbal students, adapting communication techniques to meet their needs.
Assist in managing challenging behaviour, using appropriate strategies to maintain a positive learning environment.
Promote an inclusive classroom environment where students feel safe, respected, and encouraged to learn.
Help students develop essential life skills, including communication, social interaction, and personal care.
Maintain strong communication with staff, parents, and external professionals to ensure consistent support for each student.
Requirements of the Learning Support Assistant:

Experience working with students with special educational needs (SEN), particularly in a 1:1 capacity.
Confidence in managing challenging behaviour with a calm and positive approach.
Strong communication skills to engage with students, staff, and families.
A genuine commitment to supporting the educational and emotional needs of students with special educational needs (SEN).
Have an updated CV (covering last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
