About the role: We're looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our friendly and inclusive school community in Barnet, London. You’ll be working in our welcoming reception class, focusing on supporting students with Autism (ASD) and helping them flourish both inside and outside the classroom. As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with KS1 and KS2 students, particularly those with ASD, ensuring they receive the tailored support they need to thrive. You'll work on a full-time, long-term basis, helping these students reach their full potential by adapting activities, fostering their social and emotional development, and encouraging independence.

About the school: Our vibrant one-form entry primary school caters to children aged 4 to 11 years and prides itself on offering a broad and balanced curriculum. The school sits on extensive grounds with an astro turf, pond area, and two playgrounds, creating endless opportunities for outdoor learning and exploration. We’re passionate about encouraging our students to engage in a variety of sports activities, extracurricular clubs, workshops, and exciting trips to help them discover and develop their unique talents. As a valued part of our team, you’ll play an integral role in giving these children experiences beyond the ordinary.

Application Requirements:

• Experience working with children with Autism (ASD) or other special educational needs.
• A genuine passion for supporting children’s development and well-being.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with teachers and other support staff.
• Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude in handling challenging behaviours.
• A DBS check (or willingness to obtain one) to work in a school setting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support children with ASD in class and during activities.
• Work collaboratively with teachers to create inclusive learning experiences.
• Help students with both academic work and emotional well-being.
• Encourage participation in extracurricular activities.
• Assist in taking learning outside the classroom.

Perks and Benefits:

• Work in a supportive environment with experienced SEN staff.
• Access to beautiful outdoor spaces and sports facilities.
• Opportunity to help children grow and develop in a nurturing setting.
• Receive guidance and mentorship from committed staff.
• Play a key role in a vibrant, tight-knit school community.
