Job Summary:

The primary goal of the Inside Sales Representative is to build, service and maintain business accounts, which will produce sales and profitability for the company. He/she is required to solicit and obtain orders from new business and established accounts. He/she communicates with customers, services their needs, and keeps them advised of order status. The Inside Sales Rep. also solves customer’s problems, identifies opportunities, and acts as the customers’ advocate.

Function in the Job:

Sedentary Work- Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Job Function:

Must be organized, self-motivated, a good communicator, and perform well under pressure.

Make and receive telephone calls, faxes, and emails professionally, from existing and prospecting customers and quote price, availability, and delivery times accurately and efficiently.

Continually prospect new customers via internet, in person, word of mouth, sales blitz, etc.

Maintain customer relationships through honesty, reliability, trust and fairness.

Use computer efficiently and responsibly.

Observes and follows company attendance policies and guidelines satisfactorily.

Familiarizes themselves on the best practices of the company, and educates themselves on the inventory, machinery, and processing capabilities.

Handles customer complaints properly, and in a timely manner, recognizing it as a learning experience to better get to know your customers’ needs.

Initiates MRA’s for returns, follows appropriate quality control procedures to determine cause and responsibility and future corrections, if required.

Follows up on quotes/orders daily to maximize on future sales opportunities.

Actively participates in sales activities (meetings, customer visits, physical inventory, etc.)

Works professionally and effectively with other coworkers to service customers’ needs.

Required Skills:

Ability to read, analyze and follow verbal and written instructions in documents such as work orders, safety rules, procedural manuals, etc.  

Ability to speak clearly and effectively to customers, visitors, and members of your company.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all common units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and interpret bar graphs. 

Ability to identify multiple types of industry metals and shapes and read a tape measure. 

Ability to apply common sense understanding to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, as well as find alternative solutions. Ability to interpret and understand several abstract and concrete variables at once. Ability to use strategic thinking, such as analyzing market conditions, competition, opportunity, threats, etc.  

Overall ability to understand the goals of the company (safety, efficiency, quality, etc.).

Must be able to effectively use company database once trained (Microsoft D365).

Must demonstrate conflict resolution, respect, integrity, ethics, punctuality, dependability, accuracy, safety, and teamwork while maintaining company values.
