Job Title: Senior Family Support Worker

We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Senior Family Support Worker to join our team. You will report to our Family Support Lead & liaise closely with them on a daily basis to ensure the smooth running of all operations. The primary responsibility of this role is to provide vital support to children, young people, parents, and families in various capacities.

This includes supervising family contact sessions, offering one-on-one support sessions, providing respite support to families of children who display challenging behaviours or families of children with special educational needs, and delivering care and support for looked after children.

On occasions, the Family Support Worker will be instrumental in offering assistance to young people and families experiencing crisis situations and must be confident in delivering all aspects of support including, practical, emotional and physical.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Supervise Family Contact Sessions:

- Ensure safe and appropriate environments for family contact sessions.

- Facilitate constructive interactions between family members during sessions.

- Document observations and interactions for case records.

2. Provide 1-1 Support Sessions:

- Offer practical and emotional support and guidance to children, young people, parents, and families.

- Develop and implement tailored support plans to address individual needs.

- Assist in developing coping strategies and life skills.

3. Respite Support for Families:

- Provide respite support to families of children with challenging behaviours and families of children with special educational needs.

- Assist families in accessing community resources and support services.

- Collaborate with other professionals to ensure holistic care for families.

4. Care and Support for Looked After Children:

- Offer nurturing care and guidance to looked after children in accordance with their care plans.

- Advocate for the needs and rights of looked after children within the care system.

- Collaborate with social workers and foster families to ensure the well-being of looked after children.

5. Support in Crisis Situations:

- Respond promptly to crisis situations involving young people and families.

- Provide practical and emotional support to stabilise situations and reduce risk.

- Liaise with relevant agencies and professionals to coordinate crisis interventions.

Person Specification:

- Qualification in social work, psychology or counselling (preferred).

- Proven experience in working with children, young people, and families in diverse settings.

- Ability to drive is essential for this role as you will be communiting across Wirral, Cheshire & Liverpool regions.

- Understanding of child development, family dynamics, and safeguarding principles.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to work effectively under pressure and adapt to challenging situations.

- Empathy, patience, and a non-judgmental approach.

- Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies governing family support services.

- Valid driver's license and access to transportation (preferred).
