Overview:

Hartrick Veterinary Clinic has an opportunity for a full-time Veterinary Assistant to join our team! 

Location: 30955 Woodward Ave., Ste. 225, Royal Oak, MI  48073

Shift Details:  This is a full-time position (30+ hours/week).

Pay Range:  $16.00/hr

Skills: Must have a knack for customer service. This is an entry level position. We will train the right person.

Hartrick Veterinary Clinic is a 3.5 doctor practice located that currently sees dogs and cats.  We do have a doctor with interest in seeing pocket pets/ exotics so we may start seeing those this year.

One of our current goals is to become AAHA accredited. This is an 18 month process and only 18% of veterinary hospitals across the nation have achieved this level of medical excellence.

We offer a large array of services  including: orthopedic surgeries, ultrasound, we are a Feline Friendly certified clinic and have several staff members that are Fear Free trained.  We foster an environment where our we empower the team to continue to learn and grow.

We have a lot of great in-house lab equipment including the new Imagyst.  The Imagyst is the new artificially intelligent cytology reader. It reads ear cytologies, fecals, urines, and fine needle aspirates for you.

We have an absolutely amazing team that thrives off excellent customer service. Every interaction with our clients and patients we focus on them having the best experience possible. 

Effective communication is vital to a hospital's success. It ensures that everyone is informed and collaborates towards common objectives.

We have exciting plans on the horizon. With a renovation coming in 2025, we are preparing to grow our services and space. We have plans to add additional exam rooms, surgery suite, dental suite and all up to AAHA approved specifications.

Responsibilities:

How you'll make an impact:

Our Veterinary Assistants assist the Veterinarians and Veterinary Technicians in all of their duties

The Veterinary Assistant helps to prepare animals for exams and surgery.

The Veterinary Assistant aids in performing medical treatments.

The Veterinary Assistant will perform or prepare laboratory tests.

The Veterinary Assistant will administer medications under the direction of a Veterinarian or Veterinary Technician.

The Veterinary Assistant will obtain and properly handle/prepare in-house and laboratory specimens (cytology, blood draws, blood smear, fecal, etc.)

The Veterinary Assistant works in cooperation with staff to attend to any immediate needs.

The Veterinary Assistant handles animals and their owners in a responsive, courteous and tactful manner, and inform staff and clients of any pertinent medical information related to animal care.

The Veterinary Assistant maintains a healthy, safe, sanitary, pleasant and clean facilities for the animals.

Qualifications:

Physical demands and work environment

The Veterinary Assistant must have the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb as well as manipulate (lift, carry, move) up to 50 pounds and lift over 50 pounds with the assistance of a coworker. Requires sufficient ambulatory skills.

The Veterinary Assistant must be able to work in noisy work conditions with sounds from animals and equipment that can be moderately high.

The Veterinary Assistant is routinely exposed to a variety of pets that may bite or scratch, and on occasion, exposed to anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards and medication/controlled substances.

The Veterinary Assistant must be fluent in the written and verbal skills necessary to perform successfully the essential functions, duties, and responsibilities of the position.

The Veterinary Assistant must be able to exchange accurate information with all clients and team members.
