Who we are::

Riverside Animal Hospital is growing and seeking a veterinary assistant to join our clinic family! We are currently a one-doctor, appointment-only practice. We do not have overnight shifts or on-call hours. Our patient roster includes companion pets, pocket pets, and some exotics. Full-time and part-time hours are available.

At Riverside Animal Hospital, we understand the vital role our veterinary assistants play in the success of our clinic. Our veterinary assistants are responsible for assisting the doctors and veterinary staff in the exam rooms, performing administrative tasks, and maintaining a clean environment.

Veterinary Assistant Tasks and Responsibilities:

Obtain client information patient medical history

Bring animals back to the exam room and perform an initial evaluation

Perform diagnostics, digital radiographs, in-house and reference laboratory (IDEXX)

Assist in holding and restraining animals during exams and surgical procedures

Clean and sterilize instruments, equipment, and tools

Ensure exam rooms are stocked and sterilized

Change animal bandages, bedding, and kennel materials

Ensure all cages and kennels are clean

Administer medications

Assist in collecting samples such as blood or urine for testing

Communicate with owners and families on instructions

Perform administrative duties such as updating files and processing payments

Veterinary Assistant Qualifications:

1+ years of experience in animal care or in a clinic preferred

Able to communicate clearly with clients and staff

Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently

Basic understanding of animal behavior and health care

Passion for working with animals and their owners

Attention to detail in order to maintain accurate patient records

Physical ability to restrain larger pets when necessary
