We are currently recruiting for an experienced Tool Maker for a production company based in Derby on a regular day shift.
The successful candidate will be responsible for producing precision tools (such as jigs, moulds and dies), which are then used in the manufacturing production process to make plastic components.
Main duties:
* You must be able to interpret engineering drawings to produce parts required using Lathes & drills, milling machines, grinding machines etc.
* Test the final tools or dies to ensure that parts meet specifications; make changes if required
* Assemble parts to make good, repair, or modify dies, jigs, gauges, and tools, using machine tools and hand tools
* Set up and operate conventional, CNC machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to cut, bore, grind, or otherwise shape parts to given tolerances
* Quaity inspect finished products to ensure they meet the required specifications
Key Skills & Knowledge:
* Know the strengths and characteristics of metals and other materials, what the different cutting tools can do when working with a variety of materials.
* Knowledge of manufacturing processes, especially the uPVC industry would be beneficial.
* Ability to problem solve
* Basic numeracy, literacy and ICT skills
* Good communication and listening skills
* Good attention to detail and hand to eye co-ordination
* Ability to use precise measuring instruments.
Hours of Work
Days, no weekends.

* Salary: Negotiable dependent upon experience
