We have an exciting opportunity for a Product and Process Development Chemist to join our team at our head office in Pembridge, Herefordshire, working 39 hours per week.

As the Product and Process Development Chemist you will be responsible for the implementation of product & processes developments to ensure compliant production Polyisocyanurate, Phenolic and Extruded Polystyrene insulation boards, such that new product quality fully meets specification standards and targets defined within the project.

Responsibilities of our Product and Process Development Chemist

Responsible for raising raw material specifications for new materials as part of change management projects. Ensuring that key performance characteristics are identified, and relevant testing is carried out at appropriate limits to ensure compliance.

Responsible for working with local Quality teams any new technical test methods are suitable to ensure conformity to relevant product standards and / or technical agreements

Responsible to support Technical Processing in the optimisation of process chemistry and process methods to ensure that Kingspan Insulation maintain a lead in terms of lowest cost of production while maintaining quality and technical standards.

Responsible for liaising with Divisional R&D teams on projects, where appropriate and progressing relevant projects through the CMEx processes to deliver compliant products meeting scope requirements.

Responsible for ensuring that all management information technology systems within your area of control are developed and maintained to provide accurate and timely data for self for the purpose of continuous improvement.

Responsible to liaise on technical discussions with suppliers, universities, technical establishments, certification bodies, trade associations, and customers, or attend conferences or further training as required by the objectives of the job role, to further the company’s interests including travel wherever scheduled.

Responsible to act lawfully in accordance with the general provisions contained within the Health And Safety At Work Act (HASAWA) 1974, with due regard to their own and others’ Health and Safety and the environment at all times. Awareness of COSHH regulations and responsibility for providing SDS information before and after any new chemicals are brought onto site.

What we are looking for in our Product and Process Development Chemist

You will have:

A professional qualification within degree or higher degree in Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Polymer Science, Chemical or Process Engineering or a similar subject

Full driving licence

Significant relevant industrial experience and proven ability

Experience of working with various IT programs e.g. MS Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Ability to act quickly and decisively when problems arise
