We need a Mechanical Design Engineer for a manufacturer based in the Coventry area. They design mechanical machinery, from small custom-made fixtures and bespoke hand tools to designing, building, testing, and delivering turnkey measurement systems.
Salary: £40,000 to £50,000 depending on experience, Discretionary End of year Bonus
Pension scheme (also after three years’ service; private Health scheme and Death in service benefit) Holidays = 23 per year + bank holidays. An additional day per year of service up to 5 to give 28 days per year + bank holidays after five years of service. Standard hours are Mon – Fri, 8.30 – 5 pm. Location: Coventry
The Mechanical Design Engineer will focus on the design of Gauges, Fixtures and Systems. You will work alongside our Software and Electrical Engineers and Technicians daily as projects are taken from the initial concept through to testing and then delivery. This will encompass all activities throughout the design process, including:
• Understanding and interpreting customer requirements
• The invention of novel ideas (concepts) to meet customer requirements
• Critical appraisal of your and others' designs within the design team to ensure the robustness of the design
• 3D modelling of concepts
• 3D modelling of detailed designs for manufacture
• 2D draughting of manufacturing drawings
• Support technicians in the assembly and testing of your designs
• Good general mechanical understanding and knowledge
Key requirements:
• You'll hold an HND/Degree in a relevant engineering discipline
• Have appropriate experience using a 3D CAD package. We use Autodesk Inventor; we can provide training.
• Have a good knowledge of many different materials and manufacturing processes
• An aptitude for problem-solving and the ability to develop solutions for complex problems
• Experience with industry-standard drafting practices and principles
• Effective communicator at both a technical and project level to all stakeholders
Desirable requirements:
• Have experience in designing fixtures
• Have experience in designing machinery
• Have experience of CE marking
