We are a leading provider of customised solutions for a wide range of industries, including Aerospace, Automotive, and the wider engineering sector. Due to ongoing expansion, we are looking for a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our design team at our Coventry office. Our company develops everything from single fixtures to fully automated measurement systems, addressing simple to highly complex solutions for both domestic and international clients.
Role Overview:
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing various solutions, fixtures, and systems. You will collaborate closely with our team of Software Engineers, Electrical Engineers, and Technicians to take projects from the initial concept stage through to testing and delivery. Your role will involve the following:
* Prior mechanical design experience with designing bespoke automated solutions, fixtures, machinery, special purpose systems, complex automated solutions etc.
* Understanding and interpreting customer requirements.
* Developing innovative design concepts to meet customer needs.
* Conducting thorough reviews of your own designs and those of others to ensure quality and robustness.
* Creating 3D models for initial concepts and detailed designs ready for manufacture.
* Producing 2D drawings for manufacturing.
* Providing support to technicians during the assembly and testing of designs.
* Applying a solid understanding of general mechanical principles.
Mechanical Design Engineer Key Requirements:
* A Degree or HND in a relevant engineering field.
* Proficiency in using 3D CAD software (AutoCAD, Solidworks, or Inventor).
* A good grasp of various materials and manufacturing processes.
* Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to develop solutions for complex challenges.
* Familiarity with industry-standard drafting practices and principles.
* Effective communication skills to interact with all stakeholders at both a technical and project level.
