About the role:
We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant with a specialism in Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) to join our team. This is a full-time, long-term position where you will play a crucial role in supporting our Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 students with SEMH needs. You will be working closely with our teaching staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment that meets the unique needs of each child. Your role will involve providing tailored support to students, helping them to develop their social and emotional skills, and ensuring that they can fully engage in all aspects of school life. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children who need it most, while also developing your skills and expertise in the field of special educational needs.
Application Requirements:
• Experience working with children with SEMH needs, preferably within a primary school setting.
• A strong understanding of the challenges faced by children with SEMH and the strategies that can be used to support them.
• A patient, empathetic, and positive attitude, with the ability to build strong relationships with children, parents, and staff.
• Relevant qualifications in education or special educational needs are desirable but not essential for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide one-on-one and group support to students with SEMH needs, helping them to overcome barriers to learning and develop their social and emotional skills.
• Work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to implement personalised learning plans and strategies that support the individual needs of each child.
• Assist in the development of resources and activities that promote positive mental health and well-being among students.
• Monitor and report on student progress, and communicate effectively with parents and staff to ensure a coordinated approach to each child’s education.
