Pay: £85-£100 per day
Location: Islington
Job Type: Full Time, Long Term
About the school:
Our vibrant and inclusive nursery and primary school is a place where every child is encouraged to grow into a confident, happy all-rounder with a love of learning. We pride ourselves on offering a broad and dynamic curriculum in multi-age classrooms, which not only nurtures the academic potential of each child but also fosters the development of social, emotional, and life skills that will serve them well beyond the classroom.
Our school operates as a close-knit, 1-form entry community, where staff collaboration is highly valued, and each member plays an integral role in the success of our students. With small class sizes, you’ll have the opportunity to form strong bonds with pupils and colleagues alike. Our teaching philosophy centres around developing the whole person—mind, body, heart, and soul—and we believe that every child has the potential to shine.
About the role:
We are seeking an empathetic, patient, and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant with a specialism in challenging behaviours to join our dedicated team. In this role, you will be instrumental in supporting students who require additional guidance to manage their behaviours, including those who may be prone to running, screaming, or other disruptive behaviours. Working closely with the head teacher and SENCo, you will help implement tailored strategies and interventions to ensure these pupils can access the curriculum and thrive in the school environment.
This role requires someone who is not only compassionate and understanding but also firm and consistent in their approach to behaviour management. You’ll be working with students across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, providing both 1:1 support and small group interventions. Your work will be essential in helping to create a positive, structured environment where all children feel safe and supported.
Application Requirements:
• Previous experience working with children with challenging behaviours, preferably within a school setting.
• A strong understanding of behaviour management strategies and techniques.
• Ability to stay calm under pressure and manage situations with patience and empathy.
• Excellent communication skills to liaise with staff, parents, and external professionals.
• A commitment to promoting inclusivity and ensuring all students are given the opportunity to succeed.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with challenging behaviours.
• Assist the class teacher in implementing individual behaviour plans and strategies.
• Monitor and report on student progress, adjusting interventions as necessary.
• Foster a safe and positive learning environment where all students feel valued and respected.
• Support the school’s ethos of inclusivity by promoting positive behaviour and emotional well-being.
Perks and Benefits:
Joining our school means becoming part of a supportive and forward-thinking community where your contributions are valued. You’ll work in a school that’s committed to professional development, offering regular training and opportunities to grow in your role. With our excellent location in Islington, you’ll enjoy the benefits of a vibrant local community, easy transport links, and access to a wide range of amenities. Additionally, our small class sizes and collaborative staff culture make this an ideal place to make a real impact on the lives of our students. We offer competitive daily rates and the satisfaction of working in a school where every day brings new challenges and rewards.
