Purpose of role and accountabilities:
To work on the NPI of new Machining & Fabrication packages ensuring that Lean manufacturing techniques are utilised where possible. The role will involve seeing parts from cradle to grave & working closely with production to improve & reduce cost of current processors while supporting day to day engineering requirements. Reporting to the Engineering Manager daily & leading SQCDP meetings with the team to set weekly goals & targets & discuss plans. Working alongside the Engineering Manager on Future proofing projects & Industrialisation of new projects & Technology for the Derby site.
* Leading a small team of Engineers Including Estimating / programming & planning Engineers
* New Product Introduction – Planning Methods of manufacture & industrialisation of new products from cradle to grave.
* Identifying tooling needs & working with external subcontractors when required on detailed quotes & solutions.
* Supporting all departments & trouble shooting Issues
* Creation of Route cards & work instructions / SOP’s
* Working with all departments to ensure the smooth industrialisation of new parts from quoting to manufacturing & Inspection.
* Help with Implementation (planning) & prove out of new products working closely with all shop floor departments.
* Working with Quality to complete NCR’s & Quality functions through QRQC & creating rework schemes.
* Identifying Improvement opportunities & cost reductions
* Completion of NCR’s & Concession submissions
* Attending Weekly meetings & project reviews if req’d.
Core skills/attributes needed:
* Project management Experience preferable
* Must have proven Engineering background Preferably in Aerospace
* A Knowledge of Machining / Fabrication / Welding Processors to enable detail routings to be created.
* Knowledge of special processors including heat treatment & surface treatments
* Must have Experience of planning & creating route cards / job cards Using MRP systems
* Estimating experience – Overseeing & understanding the quoting process to help create detailed RFQ returns
* Ability to read & Understand Engineering drawings essential.
* Experience with customer specifications & processors essential.
* Experience of working with blue chip companies Advantages
* Ability to troubleshoot & make decisions whilst reporting issues.
* Must have a can-do attitude & have a flexible approach to working.
* Experience of NPI / Lean Manufacturing processes including FMAE / APQP.
* Knowledge of Tooling/ Fixture Manufacturing & procurement & Control
* Good Communication skills at all levels
* Experienced in using Microsoft office tools.
* Knowledge of SOP documents & Control plan creation
