The basics:
Role: Senior Manufacturing Engineer - Machining and Fabrication Department
Salary: Up to £57,000 DOE
Location: Derby
Hours: Monday to Thursday 7am to 4pm OR 8am to 5pm and Fridays am to 12:00
Contracted hours per week: 39
Structure: Reporting to the commercial manager and co-ordinating activities for x5 engineers, consisting of manufacturing and planning engineers.
Overview:
We now require a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to help coordinate and lead a team of engineers within the business. The team consists of x5 manufacturing engineers that look after projects and planning. You will work closely with the commercial manager to help aid smooth delivery of on time and within budget projects for this first class precision engineering business.
The ideal candidate / Senior Manufacturing Engineer - Aerospace may have some of the following, however, please note these are only desirable and not essential as all applications will be looked at individually:
- Background in precision engineering - machining/fabrication
- Excellent inter-personal and presentation skills.
Competence in Office particularly Excel, Word and Project.
Good working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems
Project Management Experience
Capable of working un-supervised and using own initiative.
Good eye for detail with a methodical approach to the task in hand.
Confident communicator
Lean Manufacturing backgroundJob duties include the following:
- Planning and distribution of work across the team working closely with the commercial manager
- Train and develop staff
- Attend team leader meetings
- Project management of new projects in partnership with the commercial and engineering team
- Lead the manufacturing and planning engineers
- Build relationships with customers and suppliers
- Organise and liaise with suppliers
- Calculations of cost estimates
- Set up new Bill of Materials, sales orders, production routings.
- Lead engineering meetings
