Maintenance Engineer – Mechanical Bias
Are you a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer looking for a days-based role with an established manufacturer?
We're recruiting on behalf of a leading packaging manufacturer in Pocklington for an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join their engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity to secure a Monday to Friday role with a competitive salary, genuine job security and excellent work-life balance.
The Role
As a Maintenance Engineer, you'll be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of production machinery through a combination of planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown support. You'll also contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, helping to increase equipment reliability and minimise downtime.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across production equipment.
* Respond to mechanical breakdowns and carry out fault diagnosis and repairs.
* Maintain conveyors, gearboxes, bearings, pumps, motors, hydraulics and pneumatic systems.
* Support machinery upgrades and continuous improvement projects.
* Accurately record maintenance activities using the CMMS system.
* Work closely with production teams to maximise equipment performance.
* Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with company procedures.
About You
To be successful, you'll ideally have:
* Previous experience as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer within a manufacturing environment.
* A recognised mechanical engineering qualification (Apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent).
* Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
* Experience working on industrial production machinery.
* Basic electrical fault-finding experience would be advantageous.
* A proactive attitude with a strong focus on reliability and continuous improvement.
