Are you an experienced Purchasing and Logistics professional looking for a role where you can make a real impact? We're recruiting on behalf of a successful and growing business for a Purchasing & Transport Manager to join their team on a fixed-term basis.
This is a 9 month contract to start immediately.
Reporting directly to the Operations Director, you'll take ownership of purchasing activities, supplier relationships, stock management, and transport operations, ensuring the smooth and cost-effective running of key business functions.
The Role
This is a varied and hands-on position that combines procurement, inventory control, and transport management. You'll be responsible for maintaining an efficient supply chain, delivering cost savings, and ensuring operational excellence across the business.
Key Responsibilities
Manage all purchasing and procurement activities, from sourcing suppliers through to ongoing supplier performance management.
Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, negotiating favourable terms and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
Monitor and manage stock levels, ensuring materials and products are available to meet business requirements.
Oversee transport operations, including vehicle scheduling, route planning, and day-to-day logistics coordination.
Ensure compliance with company policies and all relevant transport regulations.
Lead, coach, and develop the Purchasing & Transport Assistant.
Produce regular reports on purchasing activity, stock levels, supplier performance, and transport operations.
Work closely with internal teams to support operational planning and continuous improvement initiatives.About You
We're looking for an organised and commercially minded professional with a proactive approach and a passion for driving efficiencies.
Skills & Experience
Previous experience in a purchasing, procurement, logistics, or transport management role.
Strong supplier management and negotiation skills.
Experience identifying and implementing cost-saving initiatives.
Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
Confident communicator with the ability to build effective working relationships.
Hands-on approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Experience using ERP systems.What's in It for You?

Hybrid working with 2 days working from home
25 days holiday pro rata, plus Christmas shutdown
