Assistant Director - Arboriculture Consultant

Our client is a large independent ecology services company which is seeking an experienced Associated Director Arboricultural Consultant to join their growing teams at either their Manchester or Birmingham offices.

You will combine technical delivery with team leadership, client development and commercial responsibility. This is an opportunity to influence the direction of the service, build strong client relationships and support the continued growth of the company.

The role will be flexible working arrangements and travel across the UK to support a diverse portfolio of residential, commercial, infrastructure and public-sector projects.

The successful individual will be able to:

• Lead the delivery of high-quality arboricultural consultancy services.

• Provide pragmatic, accurate and commercially focused arboricultural advice to clients.

• Oversee BS 5837 tree surveys and development-related arboricultural assessments in line with current guidance.

• Produce and review Arboricultural Impact Assessments, Arboricultural Method Statements, Tree Protection Plans, tree survey reports and tree risk management reports. • Undertake professional tree inspections and tree risk assessments using the Quantified Tree Risk Assessment methodology.

• Provide senior advice to clients throughout the planning and development process.

• Oversee arboricultural projects from initial enquiry through to completion, including budgets, programmes, resourcing and client expectations. • Lead, support and mentor members of the arboriculture team. • Undertake management responsibilities in line with the company structure.

• Maintain high technical standards and oversee quality assurance across the service.

• Prepare and review fee proposals, tenders and commercial submissions.

• Develop strong relationships with existing clients and secure new work for the company.

• Contribute to recruitment, team development, commercial performance and the strategic direction of the arboriculture service.

Qualifications and experience required include:

• Relevant undergraduate degree, higher qualification or equivalent professional qualification in arboriculture, forestry or a related discipline.

• Current Quantified Tree Risk Assessment registration.

• Current Professional Tree Inspection certificate.

• Significant professional arboricultural experience, including substantial experience working within consultancy.

• Strong working knowledge of BS 5837, tree risk management and the UK planning system.

• A proven track record of leading and delivering complex arboricultural projects.

• Experience managing project budgets, programmes, clients and technical teams.

• Experience producing and reviewing high-quality technical reports and arboricultural drawings.

• Professional membership of the Arboricultural Association, Institute of Chartered Foresters or another relevant professional body.

• Chartered status, or clear progress towards chartership, would be advantageous.

• Full UK driving licence.

In return a salary of £55k pa is offered, along with 28 days of paid leave and access to the company's generous pension scheme
