We are a growing and dynamic MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Operations) supplier, delivering high-quality products and services to a wide range of industrial customers. With a strong focus on customer service, reliability, and efficiency, we are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Engineering Stores Person to join our team.
The Role
As a Stores Person you will play a key role in ensuring the availability of stock to meet customer and operational demand. You will be responsible for purchasing, stock control, supplier management, and supporting the smooth operation of the stores function.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has strong commercial awareness, alongside solid technical product knowledge.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage day-to-day purchasing of MRO products, including tools, consumables, PPE, and engineering supplies
* Maintain optimal stock levels, balancing availability with cost efficiency
* Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers
* Identify cost-saving opportunities and negotiate best value
* Carry out regular stock checks and inventory control activities
* Support goods-in processes, ensuring accuracy and quality of deliveries
* Work closely with sales and operations teams to support customer demand
* Maintain accurate records within ERP/stock management systems
* Design of new stores department
* Responsible for daily goods inwards and despatching of products
About You
* Previous experience in a fast paced purchasing, buying, or stores role within an MRO, engineering, or industrial environment
* Strong technical knowledge of mechanical transmission components, particularly belts, bearings, and associated drive products
* Good understanding of MRO products and supply chains
* Excellent organisational and time management skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Confident communicator with strong negotiation skills
* Proficient in ERP systems and Microsoft Office (particularly Excel)
* High attention to detail and problem-solving mindset
* Practical with sound technical knowledge
* Experience of stores design and the ability to
* Excellent Microsoft office skills
Desirable
* Experience in supplier sourcing and contract negotiation
* Knowledge of inventory planning or demand forecasting
* Experience in assembly of racking
* Forklift licence (or willingness to obtain)
Experience:
* Store management: 1 year (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
* Driving Licence (required)
