The Company
A well-established and highly successful food manufacturing business is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the engineering function at one of its key production sites. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in driving engineering performance, improving equipment reliability, and leading a skilled maintenance team within a fast-paced food production environment.
The Role
As Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for the overall performance of the engineering department, ensuring maximum equipment availability while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, health & safety, and engineering excellence.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading, developing, and motivating the engineering and maintenance team.
Managing planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules and reactive maintenance activities.
Driving continuous improvement projects to improve plant reliability and efficiency.
Managing engineering budgets, contractors, and capital expenditure projects.
Ensuring compliance with all food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards.
Working closely with Production, Technical, and Operations teams to maximise plant performance.
Developing maintenance strategies to minimise downtime and improve OEE.
Supporting site audits and ensuring compliance with relevant engineering and food industry regulations.
The Candidate
To be considered for this role, you should have:
Previous experience as an Engineering Manager, Maintenance Manager, or Senior Engineering Leader.
Essential experience within a food manufacturing environment.
A strong background managing multi-skilled engineering teams.
Excellent knowledge of preventative maintenance systems and continuous improvement methodologies.
Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
Relevant engineering qualifications (HNC/HND, Degree, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent) are desirable.
