About the Role
Our client are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Quality Engineer to join their engineering team in Burnley.
In this role, you will play a critical part in maintaining and enhancing our quality management systems, ensuring that our manufacturing processes consistently deliver high-precision engineering solutions. You will work closely with cross-functional teams—from design and production to supply chain—to drive continuous improvement, root cause analysis, and product compliance.
Key Responsibilities
*
Quality Systems: Maintain, audit, and improve our Quality Management System (QMS) in line with industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001 / AS9100).
*
Root Cause Analysis: Lead 8D, 5-Why, and Fishbone investigations into non-conformances, working with production teams to implement robust corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
*
Inspection & Testing: Oversee first-off inspections, Goods Inward, and final sign-off procedures using precision measurement tools and CMM equipment where appropriate.
*
Process Improvement: Utilize Lean / Six Sigma tools to minimize scrap, improve yields, and streamline manufacturing workflows.
*
Supplier Quality: Audit and evaluate suppliers to ensure incoming raw materials and components meet strict technical specifications.
*
NPI Support: Participate in New Product Introduction (NPI) processes, including standardizing FAIRs (First Article Inspection Reports), PPAPs, and Control Plans.
Key Requirements
*
Experience: Proven track record as a Quality Engineer or Quality Assurance Specialist within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
*
Qualifications: HNC/HND or Degree in Engineering (or equivalent time-served experience).
*
Problem-Solving: Strong proficiency in problem-solving methodologies (8D, Cause & Effect, CAPA).
*
Technical Literacy: Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, technical specifications, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
*
Communication: Clear, confident communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively between shop floor technicians, management, and external suppliers.
