Administrative Officer - Probation Service
Location: Manchester
Salary: Competitive, with core hours including evenings and weekends as required
Are you organised, professional, and committed to supporting public safety? Our client, a reputable organisation within the Probation Service, is hiring for a dedicated Administrative Officer to join their team in Manchester. This role offers a meaningful opportunity to contribute to community safety and support individuals on probation.
What you'll be doing:
* Serving as the first point of contact for visitors, callers, and emails, providing a welcoming and professional experience.
* Managing building logistics, including mail, supplies, meeting room bookings, and security protocols.
* Handling petty cash, travel warrants, and supporting transport arrangements for probation clients.
* Assisting with health and safety procedures, acting as Fire Warden/First Aider, and supporting building security.
* Logging faults, incidents, and maintenance issues, escalating as necessary to ensure a safe environment.
* Providing confidential administrative support to operational teams, including data entry, document production, and file management.
* Supporting safeguarding and risk management activities, recognising and responding to potential issues with tact and diplomacy.
What you'll bring:
* Proven ICT skills across Microsoft Office applications.
* Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
* Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to work under pressure in a busy environment.
* Commitment to diversity, equality, and confidentiality.
Desirable skills and experience:
* Experience working within criminal justice or high-pressure environments.
* Customer service experience.
Required education and qualifications:
* GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths and English.
* IT qualification such as ECDL/CLAIT (desirable).
