Long Term Futures is recruiting an enthusiastic and capable Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a thriving primary school in Newham. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HLTA who enjoys leading learning, supporting teaching staff, and making a meaningful difference across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.

The successful candidate will deliver planned lessons during teacher release time, provide targeted academic support, and help create a positive, engaging learning environment where pupils can flourish.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver engaging pre-prepared lessons across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 during teacher absence and PPA time.
Provide reliable PPA cover while maintaining high standards of teaching and classroom management.
Work alongside class teachers to prepare resources, adapt learning activities, and support curriculum delivery.
Lead small-group and one-to-one intervention sessions, with a particular focus on literacy and numeracy.
Support pupils with a range of learning needs, adapting your approach to encourage progress and confidence.
Promote positive behaviour and maintain a calm, purposeful classroom environment.
Track pupil progress and share observations with teachers to help inform future planning.
Offer guidance and support to Teaching Assistants where appropriate, helping to maintain consistency across the classroom.
What We're Looking For

HLTA status or an equivalent Level 4 qualification.
Experience working as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant within a UK primary school.
GCSE Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
A secure understanding of the primary curriculum across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.
Experience delivering interventions that improve pupil outcomes.
Excellent communication, organisational, and IT skills.
A positive, adaptable approach with a genuine passion for helping children succeed.
