KS1 Teacher – Coventry

TeacherActive is delighted to be working with a welcoming and supportive primary school in Coventry that is seeking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Key Stage 1 Teacher for a full-time, long-term position.

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate teacher who has experience working within Key Stage 1 and Early Years and is confident delivering engaging, creative lessons that inspire young learners. The successful candidate will ideally be phonics trained and have a strong understanding of the Early Reading Framework, enabling them to support pupils in developing the essential literacy skills needed for future success.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK (essential).
Experience teaching within Key Stage 1.
Experience working with children in Early Years and KS1.
Phonics training and experience delivering high-quality phonics sessions.
A strong understanding of the National Curriculum and the Early Years Foundation Stage.
Excellent classroom management skills.
The ability to differentiate lessons to meet the needs of pupils of all abilities.
Experience supporting children with SEND where required.
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
A positive, flexible, and proactive approach to teaching.
The ability to build strong relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons in line with the National Curriculum.
Create an inclusive classroom environment where all pupils can thrive.
Deliver high-quality phonics sessions to support early reading development.
Assess, monitor, and record pupil progress.
Complete marking and assessment in accordance with school policies.
Differentiate learning to meet the needs of mixed-ability learners.
Support pupils' academic, social, and emotional development.
Work closely with teaching assistants and the wider school team.
Attend staff meetings, CPD sessions, and whole-school training.
Attend parents' evenings and communicate effectively with parents and carers.
Maintain high expectations of behaviour and achievement.
Contribute positively to the wider life of the school.

Compliance Requirements

To be considered for this role, applicants must have:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK.
Recent experience teaching within Key Stage 1.
Experience working with children in Early Years and KS1.
Phonics training or demonstrable experience delivering phonics.
Two professional references from recent employers.
An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or be willing to obtain one through TeacherActive.
