Quantum Scholars are looking for a caring, patient and experienced Secondary SEN Tutor to support young people in and around Hereford.
We are looking for tutors who can provide personalised 1:1 support for secondary-aged learners who may be experiencing Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA), anxiety, SEND, SEMH needs, or gaps in education. Many of the young people we support may be educated other than at school, awaiting a suitable placement, or require a more flexible and individualised approach to learning.
This role would suit a tutor, teacher, instructor or education professional who has strong experience working with secondary-aged pupils and is confident adapting learning to meet individual needs. The successful tutor will need to provide a calm, nurturing and flexible approach, helping young people build trust, confidence and positive engagement with education.
The role may involve:
Providing 1:1 tuition for secondary-aged young people in and around Hereford
Supporting learners with EBSA, anxiety, SEND and/or SEMH needs
Delivering personalised academic support across one or more secondary subject areas
Helping young people re-engage with education at a pace that is right for them
Using creative, practical and interest-led approaches to support motivation
Building positive, trusting relationships with learners who may find education challenging
Adapting sessions to suit each young person's needs, ability and emotional readiness
Supporting confidence, routine and positive learning habits
Working professionally with parents/carers and relevant professionals
Keeping brief records of session content, attendance, engagement and progressEssential requirements:
Experience working with secondary-aged pupils
Experience supporting learners with SEN, SEMH, anxiety and/or EBSA
Strong subject knowledge in one or more secondary curriculum areas
A calm, patient, nurturing and flexible approach
The ability to plan engaging, personalised learning sessions
Strong communication and organisational skills
A clear commitment to safeguarding and supporting positive outcomes for young people

Qualified Teacher Status would be highly desirable, particularly for referrals requiring a qualified teacher. We would also welcome applications from experienced tutors, instructors or education professionals with strong SEN and secondary subject experience.
