A specialist SEMH school in Burnley is seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their experienced team from September. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with backgrounds in SEN, care, youth work, support work, sports coaching, mentoring, or residential care, as well as graduates hoping to pursue careers in Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, or SEN Education.
The Role - SEMH Teaching Assistant
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils with needs including SEMH, ADHD, Autism, attachment difficulties, and trauma-related behaviours through 1:1 mentoring, small-group interventions, and classroom support.
Working closely with teachers and pastoral staff, you will help pupils regulate their emotions, develop positive coping strategies, and rebuild confidence in education. By providing consistency, encouragement, and clear boundaries, you will play a vital role in helping pupils develop positive relationships and achieve both academic and personal success.
This is a challenging but highly rewarding role where you will become a trusted adult and positive role model, supporting young people to overcome adversity and work towards brighter futures.
