A specialist SEMH school in Chorley is seeking a committed SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated support team from September. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with experience in SEN, youth work, care, support work, sports coaching, mentoring, or similar roles, as well as graduates looking to pursue careers in Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or SEN Education.
The Role - SEMH Teaching Assistant
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with needs including SEMH, ADHD, Autism, attachment difficulties, and behavioural challenges.
Working closely with teachers and pastoral staff, you will help pupils regulate emotions, develop positive behaviours, and engage successfully with learning. Building strong, trusting relationships will be central to the role, alongside implementing behaviour strategies and supporting personalised learning plans.
This is a challenging yet highly rewarding opportunity where you will become a positive role model for young people who benefit from consistency, encouragement, and clear boundaries.
