A specialist SEMH school in Preston is seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their experienced team from September. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with backgrounds in SEN, care, youth work, support work, sports coaching, mentoring, or residential care, as well as graduates hoping to pursue careers in Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, or SEN Education.
The Role - SEMH Teaching Assistant
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils with needs including SEMH, ADHD, Autism, attachment difficulties, and trauma-related behaviours through 1:1 mentoring, small-group interventions, and classroom support.
Working closely with teachers and pastoral staff, you will help pupils regulate their emotions, build confidence, improve behaviour, and re-engage with learning. Developing positive relationships based on trust, consistency, and mutual respect will be key to helping pupils succeed both academically and personally.
This is a rewarding role where you will become a positive role model, helping young people develop the skills, resilience, and self-belief needed to achieve greater independence.
