We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Senior Stress Engineer to join a specialist engineering business delivering complex projects within the nuclear sector. This role will focus on the analysis and substantiation of mechanical designs, supporting multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver safe, compliant and technically robust solutions for highly regulated environments. The role is 3 days on site in Chorley, 1 day from home.
This position would suit a Stress Engineer with strong experience in finite element analysis and classical hand calculations who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges. It will appeal to someone with a nuclear or highly regulated engineering background who is confident leading technical activities, mentoring engineers and working closely with designers and clients throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
* Produce and review stress calculations and analysis reports to substantiate mechanical designs, lifting equipment and handling systems
* Undertake finite element analysis and classical hand calculations using recognised engineering standards and software such as ANSYS and Mathcad
* Provide technical guidance to design engineers, supporting design development, manufacturability and material selection
* Liaise with clients and subcontractors to define substantiation requirements and review technical deliverables
* Supervise stress engineering activities, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and support project estimating activities
