We are working with a welcoming and inclusive school in Bexley seeking a dedicated and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their supportive team from September 2026.
This is an excellent opportunity for a confident and compassionate practitioner who is passionate about supporting pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN) and making a meaningful impact within a collaborative school environment.
As a key member of the support team, you will play an important role in delivering high-quality learning experiences and helping pupils to achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
In this SEND HLTA role, you will:
Work closely with class teachers to deliver engaging, inclusive learning experiences
Support planning, preparation and adaptation of learning materials and resources
Provide whole-class cover supervision during short-term teacher absences (up to 8 pupils per class)
Deliver targeted interventions and small group or 1:1 support for pupils with SEN
Collaborate with teaching staff, leadership teams and external professionals to support pupil progress
Help maintain a safe, structured and positive learning environment across the school
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
Experienced in supporting children with a range of SEN, including complex needs
Confident managing and supporting challenging behaviour with a calm and consistent approach
A strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
Passionate about inclusive education and pupil development
Able to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
Requirements
HLTA status (desirable) or equivalent teaching/support qualification
Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification with significant relevant experience also considered
Experience supporting pupils with SEN in a school setting
Ability to lead learning activities and adapt support to individual needs
Experience using or supporting alternative communication methods (advantageous)
