Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) - Primary School
Location: Bexley, South East London
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-Time, Long-Term (Academic Year)
Salary: £110-£120 per day (dependent on role & experience)
We are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming three-form entry primary school in Bexley for an experienced and confident HLTA to join the team from September. This is a full-time, long-term role for the full academic year, offering the chance to support teaching and learning across EYFS, KS1 and KS2.
The Role
As the school's HLTA, you will work closely with class teachers and senior leaders to deliver high-quality learning experiences across the primary phase. You will lead whole-class lessons during PPA cover, support targeted interventions, and help ensure pupils are engaged, supported and making strong progress.
Key responsibilities include:
Delivering pre-planned lessons across different year groups
Supporting small-group and one-to-one interventions
Working with teachers to prepare engaging learning activities
Promoting positive behaviour and an inclusive classroom environment
Monitoring pupil progress and feeding back to teaching staff
Supporting pupils with a range of learning needs where required

The Ideal Candidate
The successful applicant will have:
HLTA status or a recognised equivalent qualification
Previous experience working in a UK primary school
Confidence delivering lessons across the primary age range
Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
Excellent communication and organisational abilities
A proactive, flexible and positive approach to supporting learning
An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
