Hays Education are looking for compassionate, reliable and adaptable Supply Teaching Assistants to work within Complex SEN Schools in the Stockport area. These schools cater for pupils with a range of needs including Autism, Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), and associated medical or behavioural challenges.
Location: Stockport
Contract: Flexible Supply / TemporaryRate: Up to £125/day
Key Duties/Responsibilities:
Support pupils with complex SEN needs in classroom and 1:1 settings.
Assist teachers in delivering personalised learning plans and interventions.
Provide support with communication, sensory needs, and personal care where required.
Promote independence and engagement through structured routines and positive reinforcement.
Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and external professionals.
Ensure safeguarding and confidentiality are maintained at all times.
Key Skills/Experience:
Experience working with children with complex SEN needs (school or care setting preferred)
Knowledge of strategies for supporting pupils with Autism, SLD, or PMLD
Ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to challenging situations
A positive, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting vulnerable learners
A strong commitment to supporting learners with additional needs and their families
Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
