Senior Social Worker – Safeguarding Team

Pay Rate: £40 per hour

Hours: 37 per week

Contract: Locum

About the Role

Staffordshire County Council is seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker to join its Safeguarding Team.

You will work with children and families where safeguarding concerns have been identified, ensuring timely and effective interventions to protect children and improve outcomes.

As a Senior Social Worker, you will manage complex safeguarding cases, support colleagues where required, and contribute to maintaining high standards of practice across the service.

Key Responsibilities

Undertake Section 47 enquiries and Child and Family Assessments.

Manage a complex caseload of Child Protection and Child in Need cases.

Undertake Public Law Outline (PLO) work and court proceedings where required.

Develop and implement robust safety and care plans.

Support and mentor less experienced social workers.

Work collaboratively with health, education, police, and partner agencies.

Prepare high-quality reports for conferences, reviews, and court proceedings.

Maintain accurate and timely case recordings.
