Lambeth Council is seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker to join their Assessment Team. This is a fast-paced frontline role focused on completing high-quality assessments, managing safeguarding concerns, and ensuring children and families receive timely and effective interventions.
Working within a busy Child Assessment Team, you will undertake Child and Family Assessments, manage risk, and support children through the early stages of statutory intervention, ensuring the best possible outcomes for children and families.
In this role, you will:
Undertake Child and Family Assessments
Complete Section 17 and Section 47 enquiries and investigations
Manage Child in Need and Child Protection cases during the assessment stage
Assess risk and develop outcome-focused plans for children and families
Undertake direct work with children to understand their wishes, feelings, and lived experiences
Lead and participate in strategy discussions, safeguarding meetings, and multi-agency forums
Progress cases through pre-proceedings and court processes where required
Prepare high-quality assessments, reports, and court documentation
Maintain accurate and timely case recordings in line with statutory requirements
Work effectively within a busy duty and assessment environment
What You’ll Need:
Social Work England Registration
Social Work Qualification
At least 3 years’ post-qualified experience in children’s social care
Strong Assessment Team or Referral & Assessment experience
Child in Need and Child Protection experience
Court work and pre-proceedings experience
Ability to manage complex safeguarding cases confidently
Strong assessment, analytical, and communication skills
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced frontline service
