For a long-term assignment in the Brussels area (2 days per week in the office), we are looking for an experienced Senior SQL Server DBA to take on a key role in a complex enterprise environment. You will join a highly professional infrastructure and database landscape where reliability, performance, continuity and technical ownership are essential.

Your responsibilities

• Manage, maintain and optimise SQL Server environments, including versions 2012 through 2022.
• Plan, execute and support SQL Server migrations and upgrades in an enterprise setting.
• Contribute to datacenter migrations, disaster recovery setups and recurring DRP exercises.
• Set up, manage and troubleshoot high availability solutions, including AlwaysOn Availability Groups and Failover Cluster Instances.
• Perform database and SQL Server performance tuning, with strong attention to reliability and continuity.
• Optimise SQL Server setups running on VMware infrastructure.
• Develop and improve deployment and automation tooling using PowerShell, Git/Bitbucket, SQL Source Control, Octopus and related CI/CD tooling.
• Support SSIS-based ETL processes and SSRS reporting solutions.
• Collaborate closely with storage, network and system engineers, as well as Java and .NET development teams.
• Create and maintain data refresh procedures between environments.

Your profile

• You have several years of experience as a SQL Server DBA in enterprise environments.
• You have strong expertise in SQL Server administration, migrations and upgrades.
• You are experienced with high availability solutions such as AlwaysOn Availability Groups and clustering.
• You have solid experience in performance tuning and troubleshooting SQL Server environments.
• You have hands-on experience with SQL Server on VMware infrastructure. This is a must-have.
• You are familiar with SSIS and SSRS.
• You have experience with automation and Scripting, preferably PowerShell.
• You are comfortable working with CI/CD and deployment tooling such as Git/Bitbucket, SQL Source Control and Octopus.
• You communicate clearly with infrastructure teams, developers and other technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience with AS400/DB2/iSeries environments.
• Experience in complex infrastructure-driven organisations.
