Stores Supervisor – Manufacturing

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Stores Supervisor to join a well-established engineering and manufacturing business based in Sandy, Bedfordshire.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on stores professional with supervisory experience to take ownership of a busy stores operation, ensuring materials, components and tooling are effectively managed to support production and customer requirements.

Working closely with Production, Purchasing and Quality teams, you will be responsible for maintaining stock accuracy, managing goods in and despatch activities, supporting manufacturing operations and driving continuous improvement within the stores function.

Key Responsibilities

Stores & Inventory Control

* Manage the day-to-day operation of the stores department.

* Oversee the receipt, storage, issue and movement of materials, components and consumables.

* Maintain accurate stock records using ERP/MRP and stock control systems.

* Monitor inventory levels and liaise with purchasing regarding replenishment requirements.

* Carry out regular stock checks and cycle counts.

* Investigate and resolve stock discrepancies.

* Ensure materials are correctly identified, stored and traceable at all times.

Goods Inwards & Despatch

* Receive and inspect incoming deliveries against purchase orders and delivery documentation.

* Process delivery notes and associated paperwork accurately.

* Liaise with suppliers and internal departments regarding shortages, damaged goods or quality concerns.

* Coordinate packing and despatch activities to ensure customer orders are shipped on time.

* Arrange courier and transport collections when required.

Production Support

* Pick, prepare and issue materials in line with production schedules.

* Support manufacturing operations by ensuring material availability.

* Work closely with production teams to minimise downtime and maintain workflow.

Team Leadership

* Provide day-to-day supervision and support to stores personnel.

* Allocate workload and manage departmental priorities.

* Maintain high standards of housekeeping, organisation and safety.

* Support the training and development of team members.

Continuous Improvement

* Identify opportunities to improve stock control, storage methods and material flow.

* Support continuous improvement initiatives across the business.

* Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental procedures.

The Ideal Candidate

Essential

* Previous experience within a Stores, Warehouse, Logistics or Inventory Control environment.

* Strong organisational and administrative skills.

* Good understanding of stock control processes and inventory management.

* Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office.

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

* Ability to prioritise workload and work effectively under pressure.

* Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desirable

​​​​​​​39 hours per week

Monday: 7:30am – 4:00pm
Tuesday: 7:30am – 4:30pm
Wednesday: 7:30am – 5:00pm
Thursday: 7:30am – 5:00pm
Friday: 7:30am – 12:00pm

Overtime is regularly available and paid at 1.5x hourly rate on weekdays and Saturday mornings.
