Owen Daniels are recruiting for an experienced Workshop Manager on behalf of a well-established engineering business operating within highly regulated industries.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong engineering professional to take ownership of a busy workshop responsible for the overhaul, repair, testing and maintenance of electrical and mechanical equipment, including generators and associated systems.

The successful candidate will have a solid engineering background and proven experience managing workshop operations, leading multidisciplinary teams and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.

The Role

Manage the day-to-day operations of a busy engineering workshop.
Lead, motivate and develop a large team of electrical and mechanical engineers, technicians and support staff.
Oversee the repair, overhaul, testing and refurbishment of generators and associated equipment.
Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and in line with customer requirements.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives across workshop processes, productivity and quality.
Maintain compliance with industry regulations, quality standards and health & safety requirements.
Coordinate resources, labour planning and workshop capacity to meet business demands.
Work closely with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
Support technical problem-solving and provide engineering guidance to the workshop team.The Candidate

Proven experience in a Workshop Manager, Engineering Manager or similar leadership position.
Strong technical background in electrical and/or mechanical engineering.
Experience managing generator repairs, rotating equipment, motors, switchgear or similar industrial equipment would be highly advantageous.
Previous experience working within a regulated engineering environment such as power generation, utilities, nuclear, defence, rail, aerospace, oil & gas or similar sectors.
Demonstrable experience leading and developing large engineering teams.
Strong understanding of quality, compliance and health & safety requirements.
Excellent organisational, planning and leadership skills.
Ability to balance operational management with hands-on technical decision making.This is a key appointment within the business and offers the opportunity to join a growing organisation with a strong reputation for technical excellence and customer service.
